An early measuring instrument for small electrical currents. The lacquered brass compass housing is mounted in a mahogany frame, which has a 6" diameter coil of insulated copper wire. The 4 1/2" diameter compass has four 90% quadrants, a mirror in the base and a jewelled pivot pin on which the compass arm sits. The coil is tapped at 2, 50 and 500 turns, with brass connectors. There is a number on the base of the stand 4947 I do not know the manufacturing date but it looks as if it could be the 1930's. A very interesting piece, for display for any one interested in electrical engineering. Overall dimensions; approx. 7 1/2" tall x 5 1/2" dia. base. It weighs 750 grams. Material: Mahogany and lacquered brass Insights Exclusive
